General Format
Selection for the in-person version of Maestro Beatbox America will be done through an individual wildcard process. These wildcards must be practical, in a single take, respecting the essence of live beatboxing.
Delivery Requirements
Submission Platform: All videos must be uploaded to YouTube and the link must be submitted via a form that will be officially enabled on our website. This will be the only valid way to submit them.
Video format:
A single continuous shot.
No audio or video editing that alters the result or compromises the sound (no effects, no layers, no loops).
The introduction must include the name of the exponent, the country they represent, and mention of their participation in the competition, e.g., “My name is Edde from El Salvador and this is my wildcard for Maestro Beatbox America 2026.”
The video must clearly show the participant in a fixed or dynamic shot.
The duration of the beatbox must be 2:00 minutes minimum and 2:30 minutes maximum.
An intro and outro are allowed, but the total video length must not exceed 3:00 minutes, including beatboxing.
Sound Rules
100% Vocal Beatbox: No external sounds, samples, music tracks, loops, or accompaniment from other people are allowed.
The sound must come exclusively from the participant's own body.
No Effects: No processing of any kind that alters, saturates, or changes the sound is allowed. Only EQ, GAIN, and processing that doesn't distort the sound are allowed.
Visual Rules
The participant must appear in the video at all times.
The video must be recorded in horizontal format (minimum 720p), with good lighting and clear audio quality (it is suggested to avoid background noise).
Adding visual effects that blur the performer, alter the routine, or make the performer disappear is not permitted.
Clothing and body language should be appropriate for all audiences.
Prohibited Content
Excessive profanity or offensive language (mild expression is tolerated, but abuse will be penalized).
Content that incites hatred, discrimination, violence, or explicit sexual references.
Copyright infringements (e.g. background music, protected visual elements).
Simulation of duos, teams or collaborations (it is an individual wildcard).
Evaluation Criteria
Judges will evaluate based on:
Technique: Control, variety and clarity of sounds.
Musicality: Rhythm, structure, flow, sound coherence.
Originality: Unique proposal, personal style.
Stage presence: Confidence, expression, connection with the camera.
Overall video quality: Visual and auditory clarity without editing.
